ASA to the rescue
I’ve been a little paralyzed on a large project, and I’ve made a decision that will help me move forward.
About a year ago, I built the frame structure of a geodesic dome. It’s a 5/9ths 3v frequency dome, at a diameter of 18 feet. It’s made with polypropylene hubs and 2x4 connectors. There are some dimensional quirks, but it has pretty consistent geometry for the three types of triangles in the structure.
I debated a bunch of options for the structure of the “window” triangles, including using 2020 framing and cut-to-fit polycarbonate. My current plan is to prototype the corners in whatever plastic, and then make my production parts in Elegoo ASA. Those corners, PC sheets, and 1x4s will form the inner triangles. Hopefully.
