Do you leave your 3D printer on?

Newer 3D printers are network-connected devices, accepting print jobs remotely. That’s a cool feature, and a helpful one, too. The catch is that it requires your printer to be on, in order to send it a job.

It may seem logical to build in as a feature, but the current crop of 3D printers doesn’t support Wake-on-Lan. They also don’t support a low-power sleep mode. How much power does a 3D printer consume at idle, anyway? Well, a Creality K1C uses 11 watts - to just sit there. It adds up, too.
