Takeaway: people don’t like tarot cards, but like macro decks
First off, it was a little surprising to see how few people were into tarot cards. I’m not going to say that it hurt my feelings (because that would be silly), but 30 views in a week was unexpected.
Mind you, I’m no stranger to creating videos that are, by and large, unwatched.
My rebound video was on macro/stream decks. It was a low-hanging fruit piece of content, because I wanted macro decks to streamline my workflow. And sure enough, adding the Ulanzi D200 U-Studio has more than halved the time it takes process my still image content.
Now it looks like this:
button 1, button 2, mouse click, button 3, mouse click and drag, button 4, button 5, type a filename, button 13
I went from about 13 seconds, per image, to about 4. Doesn’t sound like much, does it? Well, I’ve processed over 800 images since November, so my savings would be about 2 hours. I’ve also automated some of my Audacity and Premiere workflows, so that saves even more.
Really, anyone that does or could use keyboard shortcuts could benefit from getting a cheap macro/stream pad. Check out the video here.
That video was a surprise, in terms of its performance. Certainly, the reach is greater than the audience that YT is picking for my other videos, even if the clickthrough is substantially lower (which makes sense).
