A VERY TINY target

Behold! A tiny Target…

I really struggled to title my latest YouTube video - and I don’t think I did a great job, despite trying my best to think of something accurate, yet compelling.

Just to make it even less accessible, I gave it a Jimmy McMillan meme thumbnail.

Pretty much everyone knows what an Internet connection is. Some relatively small subset of that group understands that you can combine multiple Internet connections to create one that is more reliable than any of the individual connections.

The people I’m trying to reach want the reliability of multiple Internet connections, but without the recurring expense of a second connection. And they have a friend nearby.

It feels a bit like this:

Le sigh

In actual fact, I don’t think it’s that rare… just a bit unlikely.

The idea is that you go with a traditional multi-WAN setup, except you use a neighbor’s Internet connection as your failover WAN link. Because sharing is caring, your neighbor would use your Internet connection as their failover link. The cost? You both need multi-WAN-capable routers (as cheap as $45). Oh, and you need to use physical or wireless network bridge equipment (as cheap as $70).

Line of sight, or near line of sight, is required for the wireless version - but the bridges can go up to 6 miles. You should also have sufficiently diverse connections, as it doesn’t do much good if you both are on Xfinity cable.

I know that this is a budget-friendly solution for some people out there. After all, if this (🤮) is a thing, there are people ready for co-op Internet.
