I’m a video editor now (albeit a bad one)
Considering that’s I’ve had Adobe Premiere since version 5, it’s a little embarrassing that I hardly ever used it. The same with Vegas and FinalCut.
My recent YouTube videos have been little more than taking an audio file, recorded and edited in Audacity, and dropping it on a timeline in Premiere. From there it’s been largely just dropping static images on the timeline. Considering that these videos basically looked like a PowerPoint, it shouldn’t be much of a surprise to learn that I composited most of the images in PowerPoint (it was just faster/easier to do it that way).
As much as I want to be a content-first guy, it was pretty ridiculous that I wasn’t able/willing to ctrl-D my segments. I’d played around with production a little in my YT Shorts, but I decided to put forth a real effort in my latest video, here.
I’m aware that it’s nothing compared to more polished productions, but it’s still a big change for me
What did all of this cost? 3 extra hours on production! It’s hard to say if it’s worth it yet.
Anyway, check out my video. It’s part of a new debunk series entitled Dad Ruins Everything. The first topic in the crosshairs is Astrology. Enjoy.
